The Ahaba of Ajagba Kingdom, Irele Local Government Area of Ondo State, Oba T.O Adesayo (JP), has been requested to appear before the Senate Committee on Ethics, Code of Conduct and Public Petitions in a bid to further its investigative hearing.
In reaction to a public interest petition by the traditional ruler, the invitation was extended to him.
Oba Adesayo as well as two other persons have earlier addressed a petition, challenging the Federal Ministry of Health through the Senate Committee. The letter urged the Ministry to construct an ultramodern hospital to accommodate already supplied medical equipment. It also advocated that medical doctors are deployed to the approved federal hospital at Ajagba, Irele Local Government Area of Ondo State.
The letter signed by the Clerk to the Committee, Christian N. Onwusonye, reads: “I am directed to respectively invite you to an investigative hearing of the Senate Committee on Ethics, Code of Conduct and Public Petitions in respect of the above-mentioned petition you and two other persons wrote and sent to the Senate, and referred to the Committee for further legislative action.
“You are requested to appear before the committee in person(no proxy). You are also requested to submit 15 copies of your written presentation (if any) to the Committee secretariat.
“Note that should you fail to attend the hearing as required, the matter may be heard or determined in your absence.”
The committee also invited the Minister of Health, Prof. Muhammad Pate, to respond to the allegations in a legislative hearing.
Meanwhile, Senator representing Ondo Southern Senatorial District, Dr. Jimoh Ibrahim declared that the Federal hospital must be built without delay in his district.
He emphasised on the need for the hospital to be built in a bid to better cater to the medical needs of the people of the senatorial district.
Senator Jimoh Ibrahim said: “It’s imperative to draw the attention of the Federal Government to build a federal hospital in Ajagba which would take care of the medical services needed by the people of Ondo Southern Senatorial District.
“As a matter of urgency and necessity, the Federal Ministry of Health should ensure a well equipped hospital is built in Ajagba community to reduce the risk and stress of residents of Ondo Southern Senatorial District travelling several miles to Owo Federal Medical Centre for medical services.
“He emphasised that such hospital would play a vital role in reducing the mortality rate among the people of the district.”
However, the legislative hearing has been scheduled to hold on Thursday, October 16, 2025 at the Senate new building, National Assembly, Abuja.
