How Ondo police arrested suspected kidnappers, gun ammunition recovered 

The Ondo State Police Command has arrested two men suspected of kidnapping and recovered a firearm and live rounds in Ayede, marking a significant achievement in the fight against violent crimes in the state.

The suspects, named Okotie and Michael, were apprehended at Odo Ala, Ayede Town, on February 12, 2026, around 9:48 a.m., following a precision operation by the Tactical Intelligence Response Squad based on verified intelligence.

A search conducted on the suspects led to the recovery of a single-barrel rifle and eighteen live cartridges concealed in their possession, the police confirmed.

Both suspects are currently in custody and have reportedly provided information that is assisting investigators in tracking their accomplices and uncovering the scope of their criminal activities.

Commissioner of Police in Ondo State, CP Adebowale Lawal, lauded the officers for their prompt and professional handling of the operation, highlighting the effectiveness of intelligence-led policing in curbing kidnappings.

CP Lawal also commended the Inspector General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, for his strategic reforms, which have strengthened operational coordination and intelligence sharing across police commands nationwide.

He reassured residents that the Ondo State Police Command remains fully committed to protecting lives and property and will continue proactive efforts to combat crime in the state.

The command appealed to the public to continue sharing reliable intelligence to support law enforcement in maintaining safety and security across Ondo State.
