Security operatives in South Africa have apprehended a female suspect over the killing of 22-year-old Nigerian e-hailing driver, Isaac Satlat, in Pretoria West.
The Gauteng Police Command disclosed that the arrest followed ongoing investigations into the alleged hijacking and murder of the Bolt driver, who was said to have been attacked while on duty.
The killing, which occurred on February 11, 2026, has provoked anger among Nigerians both within the country and abroad.
A South African news outlet, Independent Online, reported that Satlat was allegedly assaulted inside his car after responding to a ride request.
Early findings by investigators indicate that a man and a woman are believed to have carried out the attack before making away with the vehicle.
The victim’s remains and the stolen car were later recovered in Atteridgeville on the same day.
Police also raised concerns over a viral video circulating on social media, which reportedly shows a person being attacked while seated in the driver’s seat of a vehicle.
The authorities strongly criticised the distribution of the footage and appealed to the public to desist from sharing it.
In an official statement, the Gauteng police condemned the circulation of the clip, describing it as showing what appeared to be the violent killing of the young driver.
The arrested woman is scheduled to appear before the Atteridgeville Magistrate’s Court on Monday, February 16, 2026, where she is expected to face charges of hijacking and murder.
Meanwhile, law enforcement agencies have launched a manhunt for a second suspect believed to have fled after the incident.
Police urged members of the public with credible information on the suspect’s whereabouts to report to the nearest station or contact CrimeStop.
