The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency has uncovered fresh drug trafficking attempts at the Seme border in Lagos and the Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport, leading to the arrest of a woman who disguised herself as pregnant to conceal narcotics and a Lagos-based real estate chief alleged to be linked to a distribution ring.
At the Seme border on February 16, 2026, operatives stopped a 35-year-old trader from Kano, Rabi Muhammad, who was heading to Cotonou, Benin Republic.
Although she appeared to be heavily pregnant, a search reportedly exposed the pregnancy as staged. Officers found 3,200 tramadol capsules hidden inside a prosthetic bump fastened to her stomach.
On the same date, NDLEA personnel at the Kano airport detained a 41-year-old Ivorian, Michael Gohouri, also known as Anunwa Onyinye Michael, during processing for Ethiopian Airlines flight ET940 en route to Milan through Addis Ababa.
A body scan indicated that he had swallowed illicit substances. He later expelled 82 wraps of cocaine with a combined weight of 1.49 kilogrammes while under medical supervision.
He was allegedly promised €5,000 upon successful delivery in Italy. Preliminary findings showed he had moved between Lagos, Enugu and Kano before ingesting the drugs at a Kano hotel.
In a separate development, anti-narcotics officers arrested the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Trans Fortress Global Resources, Kolapo Oladapo Raji, 57, at his residence in Ikate, Lekki, Lagos, on February 12 after sustained monitoring.
The agency said he had been on its watchlist since 2025. A search of his home reportedly yielded four large bags containing 89.2 kilogrammes of “Canadian Loud,” a high-grade cannabis strain, along with a 2024 Toyota Hilux.
Investigators alleged that he admitted to previously financing drug consignments before establishing his own supply network.
The agency added that coordinated raids across Lagos, Rivers, Kogi, Ondo, Bauchi, Delta and Edo states led to additional seizures of skunk and tramadol.
At the Port Harcourt Ports Complex in Onne, officers also uncovered 170,900 bottles of codeine-based syrup during a joint container examination.
The NDLEA Chairman and Chief Executive, Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (retd.), praised the operatives for the arrests and confiscations, reaffirming the agency’s determination to strengthen efforts aimed at curbing both the supply and demand of illicit drugs nationwide under its War Against Drug Abuse campaign.
