The Nigeria Police Force, Bayelsa State Police Command, has declared a 36-year-old man, Bodmas Prince Kemepadei, wanted over his alleged involvement in the conspiracy and murder of 24-year-old Patrick Peresuodei in the Amassoma/Yenagoa area of the state.
Peresuodei was reportedly killed in January 2026, an incident that sparked protests across parts of Bayelsa amid claims of torture and alleged extrajudicial actions said to involve security operatives and a local social media influencer.
The ensuing public outcry led the Bayelsa State Government to direct a full-scale investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death.
The probe resulted in the arrest of some officials of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps.
Announcing the latest development on Sunday, the Commissioner of Police in the state, Iyamah Edebor, disclosed that a warrant had been secured for Kemepadei’s arrest.
He said the warrant was issued by the High Court of Bayelsa State following ongoing investigations into the alleged homicide.
Part of the statement read, “Bodmas Prince Kemepadei (male) is hereby declared wanted by the Nigeria Police Force, Bayelsa State Command, in connection with an alleged case of conspiracy and murder of Patrick Peresuodei. The offence was committed at Amassoma/Yenagoa.
“A warrant of arrest has been issued against him by the High Court of Bayelsa State of Nigeria.”
Police described the suspect as a dark-complexioned Ijaw man with a round face and chin, small mouth, thin lips, a small head and a low forehead.
His last known address was listed as ICCH Centre, Tenacious Street, Ede-Epie, Yenagoa, Bayelsa State.
The command appealed to residents with credible information on his whereabouts to report to the nearest police station or contact the Office of the Commissioner of Police at the state headquarters in Yenagoa.
