A 67-year-old retired school teacher, Mr Abel Atilola, has been reportedly killed by unidentified gunmen in Oyo State.
The tragic incident occurred near his farmland in Irawo area of Tede, within Atisbo Local Government Area.
Community sources disclosed that the deceased, who recently exited active service, had gone to his farm when he was waylaid by the attackers. He was allegedly ambushed and fatally shot before assistance could arrive.
The motive for the attack was yet to be determined as of press time, leaving residents of Tede in shock over the development.
The matter was subsequently reported to security operatives for necessary action.
Confirming the killing, the spokesperson for the Oyo State Police Command, Olayinka Ayanlade, said investigations had commenced to unravel the circumstances surrounding the incident.
He assured that efforts were ongoing to apprehend those responsible and bring them to justice.
