Four members of the Celestial Church of Christ who were kidnapped in Uso, Owo Local Government Area of Ondo State, have been released by their captors.
The victims were said to have regained their freedom on Monday evening at Ilado community after their families paid a ransom of N5m.
A family source, who requested anonymity, disclosed on Tuesday that the worshippers had safely returned home.
The source explained that the gunmen had stormed the church premises and abducted the victims less than a week before their release.
“They have been freed and reunited with their families after we raised N5m. Some of them are currently receiving medical care because of the hardship they endured,” the source said.
It was gathered that the kidnappers had initially demanded N100m but later agreed to N5m following negotiations.
Confirming the development, the state Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Jimoh Abayomi, said the victims had been released, adding that more information would be made available.
