Man allegedly murders elder brother over dream in Oyo

A 43-year-old man, Lateef Suleiman, has been accused of killing his 52-year-old elder brother, Mustapha Amidu, in Sepeteri, Oyo State, after reportedly alleging that the deceased shot him in a dream.

The incident was confirmed by the Oyo State Police Command, which described the development as a disturbing case brought before the Ago-Amodu Divisional Police Headquarters in Sepeteri.

In a statement issued by the command’s spokesperson, Olayinka Ayanlade, the matter was reported by a resident, Badmus Yunisa, of Alegunlode Compound. The report indicated that the suspect accused his brother of attacking him spiritually while he slept the previous night.

Police authorities said the suspect allegedly approached the victim where he was seated, picked up a large stone and struck him on the head before escaping from the scene.

Amidu was immediately taken to Ileri Oluwa Hospital in Sepeteri for treatment but was pronounced dead by the attending doctor.

The statement added that detectives from the Ago-Amodu Division visited both the crime scene and the hospital as part of initial investigative procedures.

According to the command, the suspect has since been apprehended and is assisting investigators after allegedly admitting to the act.

The Commissioner of Police in the state, Femi Haruna, has ordered that the case be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further probe, assuring the public that due process would be followed.
