The Nigeria Police Force in Nasarawa State has arrested two men suspected of vandalising electricity cables and poles in the Gitata area of Kokona Local Government Area.
The command said the activities of such vandals had worsened electricity disruptions in the community and other parts of the state.
The Police Public Relations Officer, SP Ramhan Nansel, made this known in a statement issued on Monday in Lafia, the state capital.
Nansel explained that the suspects were arrested on March 6, 2026, at about 5:40 a.m. by a patrol team attached to the Gitata Division during a routine patrol along the Gitata–Gunduma Road.
According to him, the operatives intercepted the suspects and linked them to the vandalism of power cables and poles in the area.
The suspects were identified as Chigozie Igbokwe, 41, and Emmanuel John, 45, both residents of Jikwoyi in the Federal Capital Territory.
Items recovered from them include electric cables, iron cutters, pliers, spanners, and a grey Hyundai Sonata with registration number GWA 44 PM, which the police said was used to convey the vandalised materials.
Nansel added that the state Commissioner of Police, Shetima Jauro Mohammed, had ordered that the matter be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department in Lafia for thorough investigation and prosecution.
