Bandits kill deaf man, abduct seven in Kaduna community

Suspected bandits on Monday attacked Sabon Gyero in Millennium City, Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna State, killing one man and abducting seven others.

Eyewitnesses said the assailants stormed the community in the early hours, breaking into a house and taking three women and four children away.

During the raid, the attackers reportedly targeted a phone charging centre, shooting a young man, Abdullahi Lawal, popularly known as “Kurma.” Lawal, who was deaf, sustained a gunshot wound to the head and died before reaching medical care.

Residents added that the bandits also stole mobile phones and laptops before fleeing.

The deceased was later buried in the community according to Islamic rites.

The Commandant of the Joint Task Force in the area, Uwaisu Yunusa, told our correspondent that operatives responded promptly after hearing gunshots.

“Our men arrived quickly, but the attackers had already escaped the scene,” he said.

As of the time of filing this report, the Nigeria Police Force had not issued an official statement on the incident.
