Police nab two robbery suspects, recover toy gun in Ondo

Et e. Do The Ondo State Police Command has apprehended two suspected robbers during a routine security operation in Akure, with a toy gun recovered from them.

Theswa command’s spokesperson, DSP Abayomi Jimoh, revealed this in a statement issued on Friday, attributing the breakthrough to ongoing policing efforts led by Commissioner of Police, Adebowale Lawal.

The suspects, Simeon George and Moses Daniel, were arrested in the early hours of March 15, 2026, at the Oba-Ile area of the state capital.

According to Jimoh, the arrest was effected during a coordinated stop-and-search exercise involving police operatives and local vigilante members.

He stated that officers discovered a toy gun and a headlamp hidden in a bag belonging to the suspects during the operation.

The police noted that the suspects were unable to give a convincing account of the items found on them, heightening suspicion of criminal intent.

The statement added that the suspects had been detained, while the matter had been handed over to a specialised unit for thorough investigation.

Jimoh said the suspects would be prosecuted after investigations are concluded, urging members of the public to support security agencies with useful information.
