The Ondo State Police Command has apprehended three suspected kidnappers linked to an abduction incident recorded on CCTV in Oda, Akure, and rescued three victims.
The command’s spokesperson, DSP Abayomi Jimoh, made this known in a statement on Sunday, stating that the arrests were prompted by a viral video showing the kidnapping.
He explained that the police immediately deployed intelligence resources and digital tracking tools to trace those involved in the crime.
“Upon receiving the footage, the Command immediately activated its intelligence team, leveraging digital surveillance analysis and coordinated field operations to identify and apprehend the suspects,” the statement read.
Jimoh added that operatives of the Anti-Kidnapping Squad initially arrested one suspect, whose confession led to the capture of two additional accomplices.
The suspects were identified as Mohammed Koro, 27; Muhammad Usman, 30; and Musa Alhaji, 23, while the rescued victims were taken to hospital for medical attention.
“The Commissioner of Police reiterated the Command’s unwavering commitment to combating crime and criminality, emphasizing that Ondo State will not serve as a safe haven for criminals.”
