Authorities in the United States have announced plans to deport 130 Nigerian nationals following their convictions for a range of criminal offences, including advance fee fraud, unlawful possession of firearms, drug-related violations and assault.
The disclosure was made in a statement and document published on the website of the Department of Homeland Security, which was obtained by TVC News on Friday.
The document, titled “Worst of the Worst”, indicated that the action aligns with the immigration enforcement policy introduced under former President Donald Trump, focusing on the removal of undocumented migrants with criminal records.
According to the statement, the enforcement is being executed by personnel of the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement in collaboration with the DHS.
It partly read, “The Department of Homeland Security is drawing attention to some of the most serious criminal aliens apprehended by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
“Through the efforts of DHS and ICE officials, the administration’s directive is being implemented with ongoing deportations targeting high-risk offenders, including those listed.”
Among the Nigerians identified for deportation are Boluwaji Akingunsoye, Ejike Asiegbunam, Emmanuel Mayegun Adeola, Bamidele Bolatiwa, Ifeanyi Nwaozomudoh, Aderemi Akefe, Solomon Wilfred, Chibundu Anuebunwa, Joshua Ineh, Usman Momoh, Oluwole Odunowo, Bolarinwa Salau and Oriyomi Aloba.
Also listed are Oludayo Adeagbo, Olaniyi Akintuyi, Talatu Dada, Olatunde Oladinni, Jelili Qudus, Abayomi Daramola, Toluwani Adebakin, Olamide Jolayemi, Isaiah Okere, Benji Macaulay and Joseph Ogbara.
Further names include Olusegun Martins, Kingsley Ariegwe, Olugbenga Abass, Oyewole Balogun, Adeyinka Ademokunla, Christian Ogunghide, Christopher Ojuma, Olamide Adedipe, Patrick Onogwu, Olajide Olateru-Olagbegi and Omotayo Akinto.
Others are Kenneth Unanka, Jeremiah Ehis, Oluwafemi Orimolade, Ayibatonye Bienzigha, Uche Diuno, Akinwale Adaramaja, Boluwatife Afolabi, Chinonso Ochie, Olayinka A. Jones, Theophilus Anwana, Aishatu Umaru and Henry Idiagbonya.
The list also features Okechukwu Okoronkwo, Daro Kosin, Sakiru Ambali, Kamaludeen Giwa, Cyril Odogwu, Ifeanyi Echigeme, Kingsley Ibhadore, Suraj Tairu, Peter Equere, Dasola Abdulraheem, Adewale Aladekoba and Akeem Adeleke.
Additionally, Bernard Ogie Oretekor, Abiemwense Obanor, Olufemi Olufisayo Olutiola, Chukwuemeka Okorie, Abimbola Esan, Elizabeth Miller, Chima Orji, Adetunji Olofinlade, Abdul Akinsanya, Elizabeth Adeshewo, Dennis Ofuoma, Quazeem Adeyinka, Ifeanyi Okoro, Oluwaseun Kassim, Olumide Bankole Morakinyo, Abraham Ola Osoko, Oluchi Jennifer and Chibuzo Nwaonu were named.
US officials noted that the deportation process would proceed in accordance with established immigration laws, targeting foreign nationals found guilty of serious criminal offences.
