Residents of Akure, the Ondo State capital, were thrown into anxiety in the early hours of Saturday following an attack by suspected gunmen on a government health facility, resulting in the abduction of six workers.
The incident reportedly occurred at about 2:00 a.m. at a Primary Health Centre situated in the Oke Ijebu area, opposite Mega School.
Eyewitnesses said the armed men arrived in a bus and forcefully gained access into the premises, where they rounded up the health personnel on duty.
One of the patients at the centre, who requested anonymity, revealed that the attackers whisked away six workers, including some interns.
The source explained that the victims were bundled into the vehicle used by the assailants, who immediately fled the area.
There has been no official confirmation or statement from security agencies as of the time this report was filed.
The incident has heightened fear among residents, many of whom are urging authorities to act swiftly to ensure the safe return of the kidnapped workers.
Meanwhile, efforts are ongoing to gather more information as security operatives are expected to launch an investigation into the attack.
