Residents of Oro-Ago in Ifelodun Local Government Area, Kwara State, are on edge following reports that armed bandits are regrouping to carry out another attack in the area.
Sources told DAILY POST that the alert is based on credible intelligence, prompting security agencies to place all formations in the community on high alert.
Oro-Ago and surrounding villages have in recent months been targeted repeatedly by bandits, resulting in killings, abductions, and widespread fear.
The looming threat follows a recent assault on Omugo ECWA Church in Oro-Ago, during which eight worshippers were abducted. While three of the captives managed to escape, five remain in the bandits’ custody, including the pastor’s wife.
According to sources, the bandits have demanded a ransom of N1 billion for the release of the remaining hostages, rejecting an earlier N1 million contribution raised by community members. They are insisting that the full amount must be paid before the captives are freed.
Residents are reportedly anxious, with many calling for urgent intervention to prevent another attack.
As of the time of filing this report, security agencies had not issued any official statement regarding the renewed threat.
Authorities are expected to intensify patrols and surveillance to avert a repeat of the previous attack.
