A new Commissioner of Police, Felix Ohagwu, has resumed duties at the Ondo State Police Command, with a promise to strengthen security operations and uphold professionalism in the state.
Ohagwu assumed office as the 47th commissioner following the redeployment of Adebowale Lawal by the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu.
The development was disclosed in a statement released on Tuesday by the command’s spokesperson, DSP Abayomi Jimoh.
The statement described the new police chief as a seasoned officer with extensive experience in intelligence gathering, crime management, public safety and police administration.
It added that Ohagwu had served in several operational and investigative roles across the country during his over 30 years in the force.
Speaking shortly after taking over leadership of the command, the commissioner assured residents of his commitment to sustaining peace and improving security across the state.
He said the command would continue to deploy intelligence-driven policing strategies, strengthen collaboration with relevant stakeholders and improve community-based policing efforts to tackle criminal activities.
Ohagwu also stressed the need for accountability, transparency and respect for human rights in policing, noting that officers under his leadership would be guided by ethical conduct and professionalism.
He commended the Inspector-General of Police for the opportunity to serve in the state and praised his predecessor for his contributions to security and stability in Ondo State.
The commissioner further appealed to residents to support the police with useful and timely information that could assist security agencies in combating crime and protecting lives and property.
According to the statement, the command remains committed to ensuring effective policing and maintaining public confidence in law enforcement across the state.
