The Ondo State Police Command has arrested two men suspected to be involved in kidnapping activities and recovered motorcycles allegedly used to aid their operations.
The suspects, identified as Abubakar Sindiku, 25, and Oliver Okoh, 35, were apprehended by operatives of the command’s Anti-Kidnapping Unit during an intelligence-driven operation carried out on February 11, 2026.
Police spokesperson, DSP Abayomi Jimoh, disclosed in a statement on Sunday that the arrests followed credible tracking analysis and technical surveillance linked to an ongoing kidnapping investigation in the state.
According to the command, the suspects were picked up at Sabo Sango along Ado Road and Ilado Community and are currently assisting investigators with useful information.
Preliminary findings revealed that the duo allegedly belonged to a kidnapping network and used motorcycles to monitor potential victims and provide logistics support to other members of the syndicate.
The police added that the motorcycles and other items believed to have been used in facilitating the criminal activities were recovered during the operation.
The Commissioner of Police, Adebowale Lawal, commended ongoing reforms introduced by the Inspector-General of Police, noting that improved intelligence gathering and coordination had strengthened crime-fighting efforts across commands.
Lawal assured residents of sustained operations against violent crimes and urged members of the public to remain vigilant and continue providing timely and credible information to security agencies.
