The Ondo State Police Command has confirmed the kidnapping of six worshippers at a Celestial Church situated along the Uso/Owo Expressway in Uso, Ondo State.
The attack reportedly occurred around 12:50 a.m. on Tuesday when armed men invaded the church premises and forcefully took the victims to an unknown location.
In a statement on the incident, the command said it acted swiftly after receiving a distress alert. It explained that its operatives, in collaboration with the Nigerian Army and local vigilante groups, commenced a joint rescue mission to secure the victims’ freedom.
The police disclosed that the combined security efforts have led to the rescue of one of the abducted worshippers.
It further stated that one suspect believed to be linked to the crime has been arrested and is assisting investigators with useful information.
The command assured members of the public that intensified operations are ongoing to ensure the safe recovery of the remaining victims and the arrest of others involved in the attack.
