Gunmen abduct in Oyo

At least four people have been kidnapped by gunmen along the Igbeti–Kishi Road in Oyo State, officials confirmed.

The incident reportedly occurred on Wednesday evening, and the whereabouts of the victims remain unknown as of Thursday.

Olayinka Ayanlade, Public Relations Officer of the Oyo State Police Command, confirmed the abduction when contacted.

In a statement, Ayanlade said the command is intensifying efforts to secure the release of the victims and apprehend the kidnappers.

He explained that upon receiving the report, the Commissioner of Police immediately directed the Divisional Police Officers of Kishi and Igbeti, along with tactical teams, to deploy operational resources to rescue the victims.

The police spokesperson assured that the command is committed to ensuring the swift arrest and prosecution of those responsible for the crime.

Authorities appealed to members of the public to provide any information that could assist in locating the abducted persons and bringing the culprits to justice.

The Oyo State Police Command emphasized that all necessary measures are being taken to guarantee the safety of residents along the Igbeti–Kishi axis.
