Bandits raid community, steal valuables worth millions

Residents of Jeri in Kusada Local Government Area of Katsina State were left shaken after suspected bandits reportedly carried out a house-to-house attack, making away with property valued in the millions of naira.

According to security analyst Bakatsine, who shared details on X on Friday, the attackers moved through the community for nearly two hours, targeting homes without interference.

“The bandits conducted a thorough house-to-house raid in Jeri community, operating for almost two hours,” Bakatsine said.

Reports indicated that the raiders stole cash, mobile phones, and livestock, leaving several households at a loss. “Phones, money, and cattle were taken during the attack,” he added.

While no deaths or kidnappings were recorded, the incident has reignited worries about security in the area, especially as it occurred just weeks after a peace accord was reportedly signed with bandits in Kankia Local Government Area.

Bakatsine observed that the latest raid raises doubts over the effectiveness of the peace efforts, highlighting ongoing vulnerabilities in Katsina communities despite attempts to restore stability.
