Meet Nigerian-American basketball star, Anisoke

Ejimofor “E.J.” Anosike, a Nigerian-American professional basketballer with the Hong Kong Bulls, is gaining global recognition after a run of standout displays in the National Basketball League, LEGAL OBSERVER reports.

Born on November 11, 1998, in Staten Island, New York, the 6ft 7in power forward holds both Nigerian and American citizenship and grew up in East Orange, New Jersey, where he first developed his love for the game.

The 27-year-old enjoyed an exceptional 2026 campaign, playing a pivotal role in leading the Hong Kong Bulls to the NBL title and earning the Finals Most Valuable Player award.

His individual brilliance also shone through as he won the league’s Slam Dunk Contest and secured an All-Star spot, adding to his rising profile on the international scene.

These achievements came on the back of an impressive 2025 season, when he was named the league’s Best International Player.

Before turning professional, Anosike built a strong collegiate career in the United States, representing Sacred Heart, Tennessee, and Cal State Fullerton, where he developed into a dominant presence in the forward position.

During his time at Sacred Heart University, he surpassed 1,000 career points and delivered a memorable junior season, averaging a double-double and earning All-NEC First Team honours while ranking among the top rebounders in Division I.

He later moved to the University of Tennessee, maintaining his consistency on the boards, before concluding his college journey at Cal State Fullerton, where he helped the Titans secure a Big West Championship and an NCAA Tournament berth.

In his final collegiate season, he averaged over 16 points and eight rebounds per game, earning Big West Newcomer of the Year and First Team All-Big West honours, as well as the tournament MVP award.

Although he went undrafted in the 2022 NBA Draft, Anosike has since carved out a diverse professional career, featuring for clubs across Asia, Europe, and North America, with stints in South Korea, France, Belgium, Angola, and China.
