Detectives from the Homicide Section of the Lagos State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) have raided and detained at least nine individuals as part of the ongoing investigation into the alleged murder of former Social Democratic Party (SDP) governorship candidate in Ondo State, Otunba Bamidele Akingboye (OBA).
Among those taken into custody are five immediate family members of the late politician and four domestic staff members.
Police sources indicate that “scientific investigations” prompted the invitation of family members and aides for questioning.
News of Mr. Akingboye’s death surfaced on September 3, 2025, when his body was reportedly discovered in the backyard of his residence under unclear circumstances.
The Commissioner of Police for Lagos State, CP Olorundare Moshood, previously assured that the command would leave no stone unturned in uncovering the circumstances surrounding the politician’s death and bringing anyone found culpable to justice.
