Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa of Ondo State has revealed that Agboola Ajayi, the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the November 2024 Ondo Governorship Election, has expressed interest in rejoining the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
The Governor made this announcement shortly after the Supreme Court dismissed all pending appeals against his election victory, describing the development as the final affirmation of the mandate freely given to him by the people of Ondo State.
According to Aiyedatiwa, Ajayi, who had previously written to formally withdraw his appeal at the apex court, has also committed to supporting the administration and contributing to the state’s advancement.
“In fact, Hon. Agboola Ajayi has told me personally that he is coming to join the APC. I am waiting for him so that we can work together to build a greater Ondo State,” the Governor stated to journalists.
The Supreme Court’s unanimous decision to strike out and dismiss all election petitions filed by opposition parties, including the PDP, SDP, and APM, effectively concluded a prolonged period of litigation surrounding the 2024 governorship election.
