The Action Alliance has formally entered the race for the 2027 presidential election with the nomination of its National Chairman, Adekunle Rufai Omoaje, as the party’s flagbearer.
Omoaje, a politician from Ede in Osun State, was presented with the party’s presidential ticket during a ceremony held in Abuja on Saturday, where he pledged to provide purposeful leadership and advance policies centred on national unity, good governance and development.
Speaking after accepting the nomination, Omoaje described the moment as a significant milestone for the party and attributed his emergence to divine grace, while expressing gratitude to supporters across the country.
He also acknowledged the support of his family, noting that their sacrifices and encouragement helped him through years of political and legal challenges.
According to him, the nomination represents a collective achievement for members of the party who remained committed to its ideals despite internal challenges.
“This nomination is not about one individual; it reflects the dedication and resilience of party members who stood by the vision of the Action Alliance through difficult times,” he said.
The presidential candidate further commended journalists and media organisations for their role in covering the party’s legal and political disputes, describing their commitment to fairness as vital to democracy.
He equally praised legal practitioner Prof. Amupitan for his role in the party’s legal battles and lauded the Independent National Electoral Commission for complying with court judgments and upholding the rule of law.
Omoaje stressed that respect for judicial decisions remains critical to strengthening public confidence in democratic institutions.
Outlining his agenda, he promised to champion a government built on integrity, fairness and national renewal if elected president in 2027.
“This is not the end of a struggle but the beginning of a greater mission. We must remain united and work together to offer Nigerians a credible alternative,” he said.
The Action Alliance has faced a series of leadership disputes in recent years, with several court cases arising over control of the party. Omoaje has consistently maintained that court rulings affirmed his position as the party’s National Chairman.
With his emergence, the Action Alliance becomes one of the earliest political parties to unveil a presidential candidate ahead of the 2027 general election as political activities continue to gather momentum across the country.
