The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has warned Nigerians to stay alert after uncovering illegal drugs hidden in children’s toys and cassava granules, commonly known as garri.
Femi Babafemi, the agency’s Director of Media and Advocacy, shared the discovery on X on Sunday, describing it as evidence of the “desperate measures” traffickers now use to move illicit substances.
He revealed that methamphetamine was recently found concealed inside Hollandia yoghurt packs and MP3 players during NDLEA operations.
In a post accompanied by videos of the seizure, Babafemi wrote, “Narco-trends: Children’s toys and our popular cassava granules (garri) are being exploited to traffic drugs. Please take note and see how NDLEA officers uncovered this.”
The agency called on the public to exercise caution and report suspicious items to help combat drug trafficking.
