Enugu State Police Command has apprehended three individuals suspected of cult-related activities and recovered firearms, ammunition, and illegal drugs during separate operations across the state.
A statement issued on Sunday by the command’s spokesman, SP Daniel Ndukwe, said officers from the Anti-Cultism Tactical Squad arrested Emmanuel Mba, 31, and Nnam Onukwube, 35, on January 19 at Awkunanaw in Enugu South Local Government Area.
The suspects reportedly confessed to being members of the Supreme Vikings Confraternity, with Mba allegedly serving as the group’s leader and executioner in the area since December 2025.
Items seized from them included a pump-action rifle, a locally made Beretta-type pistol, 31 live rounds, a large bundle of suspected cannabis, a motorcycle, and a laptop.
In a separate raid on January 31 in Agbani, police detained eight individuals, of whom Monday Ezeani, 32, was found with dried cannabis and 39 pellets of suspected crystal methamphetamine, known locally as mkpuru-mmiri.
The other seven suspects were released following preliminary checks.
The Enugu State Commissioner of Police, Mamman Giwa, reassured the public of the command’s dedication to protecting lives and property.
He warned those engaged in cultism, armed robbery, and drug offences to cease their activities or face legal action.
