Ondo Police arrest 13 suspects over Idanre deadly attack

The Ondo State Police Command has arrested thirteen suspects in connection with the deadly attack that struck Idanre community on February 18, 2026, leaving two persons dead and three others injured.

Operatives of the Idanre Division, acting on credible intelligence and sustained surveillance, swooped on the suspects at strategic locations across the area in a series of coordinated raids personally ordered by the Commissioner of Police, CP Adebowale Lawal.

Those arrested include Adewusi, 38; Dele, 28; Akinkurole, 38; Victor, 30; Abbas, 30; Michael, 35; Jolojolo, 36; Ifedayo, 38; Olamilekan, 25; Emmanuel, 25; Sunday, 49; Michael, 55; and Monday, 25.

The violence, which also led to the destruction of properties, prompted Lawal to immediately direct an intensive intelligence-driven manhunt to track down all individuals connected to the incident.

The suspects are currently in custody and have reportedly made useful statements aiding ongoing investigations to unravel the full circumstances of the attack and identify possible collaborators.

CP Lawal vowed that all persons involved in the violence would face justice, while appreciating Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, for his operational support and strategic guidance that bolstered the command’s response capacity.

The commissioner also warned criminal elements against any act capable of breaching public peace, saying the command would deploy its full operational strength to crush such threats.

He urged Idanre residents and Ondo citizens to remain calm and continue providing useful information to security agencies to aid investigations and strengthen collective safety across the state.
