The Ondo State Police Command has uncovered and disrupted a suspected robbery network in Imafon, leading to the arrest of two individuals and the recovery of a firearm and other exhibits.
The command’s spokesperson, Abayomi Jimoh, confirmed the development in a statement on Friday, explaining that the operation followed actionable intelligence.
Jimoh said operatives stormed Igushi area of Imafon on March 22, 2026, where Busayo Ajowele, 31, and Ajayi Ebenezer, 33, were apprehended during a coordinated raid.
He added that a search conducted at the scene led to the recovery of a locally fabricated single-barrel gun, two live cartridges, and 29 pieces of floor tiles believed to be connected to criminal activities under investigation.
Investigations, according to the police, indicate that the suspects allegedly used gunshots to create panic among residents before carrying out their operations.
“The suspects allegedly fired shots to intimidate residents and create an atmosphere of fear before executing their plans,” the statement noted.
Reacting, the Commissioner of Police, Adebowale Lawal, praised the operatives for the success, describing it as a product of intelligence-led policing.
He assured that the command would sustain efforts to combat crime, adding, “We are determined to rid the state of criminal elements and safeguard lives and property, while urging residents to continue providing useful information.”
