The Ondo State Police Command has arrested a suspected kidnapper in Isua Akoko after a victim reportedly resisted abduction and injured one of the attackers during the incident.
This was disclosed in a statement on Tuesday by the command’s spokesperson, DSP Abayomi Jimoh, who noted that the operation was carried out under the supervision of the Commissioner of Police, Adebowale Lawal.
The police said the case was reported on April 10, 2026, when a resident, Ahmadu, informed officers at the Isua Division that one of two young men who had travelled to Ipesi Akoko for cattle grazing failed to return.
Prompted by the report, operatives swung into action and commenced a coordinated search, which eventually led to the safe rescue of the victim.
In his account, the victim said he was abducted at night by three men but resisted their attempt, managing to strike one of them and leaving him with a head injury.
Acting on the details provided, police operatives tracked a suspect to Obasanjo Motor Park in Isua Akoko, where he was found with a visible injury and taken into custody in the early hours of the day.
The suspect reportedly admitted involvement in the crime during questioning, while the victim later identified him as one of the attackers, citing the injury sustained during the encounter.
The police confirmed that the rescued victim had been taken for medical care, while the suspect had been moved to the Anti-Kidnapping Unit for further investigation and possible prosecution.
The command commended residents for their timely cooperation, describing public support as critical to successful crime-fighting efforts.
It reiterated its determination to combat kidnapping and other violent crimes across the state, urging residents to remain alert and continue to provide useful information to security agencies.
