Security operatives have apprehended a suspected terrorist in Kaduna State following fresh intelligence suggesting escalating infighting among armed groups operating in the region.
The arrest was said to have taken place on April 16, 2026, around 6:45 p.m. at a military facility in Afaka, within Igabi Local Government Area.
According to security insiders, preliminary findings indicate the suspect escaped from a hideout in Sabon Birni after a violent confrontation broke out between rival bandit commanders, Dogo Gide and Kabiru.
The clashes, which are reportedly ongoing, have extended across the Kachia–Kagarko–Chikun belt, an area frequently troubled by security challenges.
A source involved in the operation disclosed that the suspect remains in custody while authorities work to validate the information he has provided and deepen intelligence gathering.
“We are currently assessing the credibility of his claims and mapping out the operational networks of the groups,” the source said.
Another official noted that the internal conflict among the factions could weaken their structure.
“The ongoing rivalry points to divisions within their ranks, which security forces may exploit to further degrade their activities,” the official added.
As of press time, there has been no formal statement from authorities, but investigations are said to be ongoing.
