Troops of Operation Enduring Peace have rescued a kidnapped victim and recovered N8 million ransom in Qua’an Pan Local Government Area of Plateau State.
The development was disclosed in a statement issued on Sunday by the Media Information Officer of the Joint Task Force, Chinonso Polycarp Oteh.
According to the statement, the operation was carried out on April 25, 2026, by troops deployed in Sector 9, Shendam, leading to the successful rescue of the victim and recovery of the ransom earlier paid by her family.
The victim was reportedly abducted on April 19 from the Bauna area in Shendam Local Government Area.
The military said the breakthrough followed sustained intelligence gathering and interrogation of a suspect, who provided information that led troops to the victim’s location in Padam Forest, Qua’an Pan LGA.
“Through coordinated efforts, troops located and rescued the victim at a hideout in the forest and also recovered the sum of N8 million earlier paid as ransom,” the statement noted.
Following the rescue, the victim was taken to the General Hospital in Shendam for medical attention before being reunited with her family.
The military added that the recovered money had been returned to the victim’s relatives.
It further disclosed that troops have intensified operations in the area, with ongoing efforts to dismantle the kidnappers’ network and apprehend other members of the syndicate.
The Joint Task Force commended residents for their cooperation and urged continued support through timely and credible information to enhance security operations in the area.
