Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have dismantled several drug hideouts across the Federal Capital Territory, arresting 132 suspects and recovering more than 220 kilograms of illicit substances in a two-week operation.
The agency said the coordinated raids, carried out between April 11 and 25, 2026, followed sustained intelligence gathering and surveillance on identified drug hotspots within Abuja and its environs.
According to NDLEA, the operation was jointly conducted by its Directorate of Operations and General Investigation (DOGI) and the FCT Strategic Command as part of efforts to disrupt drug trafficking and abuse networks in the capital.
The affected locations include Torabora Hills, Area 3, Gwarinpa, AYA, Durumi, Banex, Dei-Dei, Kubwa, Apo, Kwali, Gwagwalada, Wuse Zone 4, Garki Area 10, Jabi, as well as parts of the Suleja axis.
Items recovered during the raids include 214.79kg of cannabis (skunk), 5.524kg of Diazepam, 2.352kg of Exol, 1.119kg of Tramadol and 145.8g of Mogadon.
Others are 93.52g of cocaine, 84.3g of Rohypnol, 10.9g of methamphetamine, 3.17g of ecstasy and six bottles of codeine syrup.
The agency said operatives faced resistance in some locations, particularly in Durumi and the Suleja market area, but were able to overpower suspects without casualties.
Briefing the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the NDLEA, National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, the Director of Operations and General Investigation, DCGN Ahmed Sule Ningi, commended the officers involved and urged sustained pressure on drug networks.
Responding, NDLEA Chairman, Mohamed Buba Marwa, praised the operatives for their performance and directed that similar enforcement operations be extended to other high-risk urban centres nationwide.
He reaffirmed the agency’s commitment to intensifying the fight against drug trafficking and dismantling illicit distribution networks across the country.
