Desmond Elliot has lost his bid to secure the All Progressives Congress (APC) ticket to return to the Lagos State House of Assembly.
The lawmaker representing Surulere Constituency I was defeated during the APC primary election held on Wednesday.
His challenger, Barakat Odunuga-Bakare, who is reportedly backed by Femi Gbajabiamila, emerged victorious in the contest.
According to results from the primary, Odunuga-Bakare polled 11,385 votes, while Elliot secured 270 votes across the constituency’s wards.
The outcome marks a major political setback for Elliot, who has represented the constituency in the Lagos assembly for multiple terms.
The development comes amid intense political realignments within the All Progressives Congress ahead of the 2027 elections.
