Operatives of Operation HADIN KAI have apprehended three individuals suspected of supplying logistics to Boko Haram and the Islamic State West Africa Province in Borno State.
The suspects were arrested on Monday morning at about 8:30am after troops of the Joint Task Force North East stopped and searched a Toyota pick-up truck along the Magumeri–Gubio Road.
Security sources disclosed that the vehicle was loaded with sizeable quantities of textile fabrics allegedly intended for making uniforms for insurgents. It was learnt that fighters often appear in coordinated clothing during attacks to aid identification among their ranks.
A senior military official, who spoke on condition of anonymity as he was not permitted to brief the media, confirmed the operation and described it as a major disruption of suspected supply channels to terrorist groups in the North-East.
In addition to the fabrics, troops reportedly recovered 20 Hilux tyre tubes, spare parts for motorcycles and bicycles, several cutlasses, tyres and other materials believed to be for operational use.
The officer further revealed that three mobile phones were found carefully concealed beneath planks inside the vehicle.
The suspects remain in military custody while investigations are ongoing to ascertain their alleged roles and connections within insurgent networks operating in the region.
