Operatives of Operation Whirl Stroke have rescued a 28-year-old woman, Mrs Member Ityavber, who was kidnapped in Tse-Ubena community, Yooyo Council Ward of Katsina-Ala Local Government Area of Benue State.
The rescue was confirmed in a statement released on Thursday by the Acting Media Information Officer of the task force, Lt. Ahmad Zubairu.
He explained that the operation was executed jointly with personnel of the Benue State Civil Protection Guard following intelligence reports of abduction activities in the area.
Zubairu noted that troops deployed from Tor-Donga acted swiftly on the information, leading to the successful recovery of the victim without harm.
“Following credible intelligence, troops moved to Tse-Ubena village in Yooyo Council Ward of Katsina-Ala Local Government Area, where they successfully secured the release of Mrs Member Ityavber, aged 28,” he said.
The statement further revealed that security operatives intensified their operations in Gwer West Local Government Area, where two suspected armed herders were apprehended.
According to the spokesperson, the suspects were arrested at Mbapa and Mbabuande after troops uncovered a suspected criminal hideout that had been abandoned.
He added that continued clearance operations, including across River Akpako, led to the arrest, with the suspects currently in custody undergoing further interrogation.
Meanwhile, the Force Commander of Operation Whirl Stroke, Major General Moses Gara, praised the troops for their swift and coordinated response.
He reaffirmed the task force’s resolve to maintain peace and security in the state, particularly as the farming season approaches.
