The Nigerian Army has arrested no fewer than 10 suspected terrorists and rescued three kidnapped victims during coordinated operations across the Federal Capital Territory and parts of the North-Central region.
The development was disclosed in an operational update issued on Wednesday.
In the FCT, troops under Operation MESA, in collaboration with a tracking team from the Office of the National Security Adviser, apprehended two suspects at a checkpoint in Abaji.
The army said the suspects were intercepted while travelling in a commercial vehicle from Asaba en route to Kaduna and have since been taken into custody for further investigation.
In Benue State, troops deployed for fighting patrols under Operation WHIRL STROKE arrested two suspected terrorists in Gwer West Local Government Area, recovering two motorcycles during the operation.
Similarly, in Nasarawa State, security operatives acting on intelligence arrested six suspects believed to be involved in terrorism and illicit drug activities in the Karshi area of Karu Local Government Area.
Recovered items from the suspects include a locally made pistol, ammunition and other materials. The army said the suspects are currently in custody.
The statement added that troops also recorded gains in anti-kidnapping operations in Benue, where swift responses to distress calls forced kidnappers to abandon their victims.
One victim was rescued at Mbakange in Katsina-Ala Local Government Area and handed over to the police, while two others regained freedom during a separate operation in Agidi, Konshisha Local Government Area.
The army reaffirmed its commitment to ongoing operations aimed at dismantling criminal networks and strengthening security across the country.
