The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited has increased the pump price of Premium Motor Spirit across its retail outlets following a fresh adjustment in the ex-depot price by the Dangote Petroleum Refinery.
A market survey on Thursday showed that NNPCL stations in Abuja and surrounding areas have raised petrol price to ₦1,364 per litre from ₦1,295, representing an increase of ₦69 per litre.
The new pricing regime has already been implemented at several filling stations in the Federal Capital Territory, including those along Gwarimpa, Kubwa Expressway, Wuse Zone 4 and Zone 6.
An attendant at one of the stations confirmed the adjustment, saying, “We adjusted our pump price to ₦1,364 per litre this morning from ₦1,295.”
Similarly, independent marketers such as MRS, BOVAS and other outlets within Abuja have also reviewed their pump prices upwards, selling between ₦1,365 and ₦1,370 per litre.
The development comes shortly after the Dangote Refinery increased its ex-depot petrol price by ₦75, moving it from ₦1,200 to ₦1,275 per litre.
The refinery attributed the adjustment to rising crude oil prices in the international market, which reportedly climbed above $115 per barrel.
The latest increases are expected to further impact transportation costs and general price levels across the country.
