Portuguese football icon Cristiano Ronaldo has been named the world’s highest-paid athlete for the sixth time, according to Forbes’ 2026 rankings.
The 41-year-old forward maintained his position at the top of the earnings chart for a fourth consecutive year, with estimated total earnings of $300 million from salaries, bonuses, endorsements, and business ventures.
The latest ranking places Ronaldo among the most financially successful athletes in history. His sixth appearance at the summit equals the record held by basketball legend Michael Jordan, while golf great Tiger Woods remains the overall leader with 11 first-place finishes.
Forbes noted that Ronaldo’s earnings figure matches the highest annual income ever recorded for an active athlete since the publication began tracking sports earnings in 1990.
Mexican boxing superstar Canelo Álvarez ranked second with earnings of $170 million, while Argentine football star Lionel Messi occupied third place with $140 million.
Other athletes featured in the top 10 include NBA stars LeBron James, Stephen Curry, and Kevin Durant, baseball sensation Shohei Ohtani, golfer Jon Rahm, footballer Karim Benzema, and Formula One champion Lewis Hamilton.
