President Bola Tinubu is scheduled to visit Jos, Plateau State, on Saturday to attend the funeral of Nana Lydia Yilwatda Goshwe, mother of the All Progressives Congress (APC) National Chairman, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda Goshwe.
Confirming the visit in a statement, Tinubu’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, said the President will depart Lagos for Jos to take part in the funeral rites.
According to him, Tinubu will also address northern church leaders at the Church of Christ in Nations (COCIN) headquarters in Jos before returning to Lagos later the same day.
Earlier, the President extended his condolences to Prof. Yilwatda, describing his late mother, who passed on at the age of 83, as “a woman of deep faith and service whose life was dedicated to her family, community, and God.”
Tinubu encouraged the APC Chairman to draw strength from her legacy and accept her passing as the will of God, while offering prayers for her soul’s repose and for comfort to the family.
Prof. Yilwatda became the party’s National Chairman in July.
The visit also comes against the backdrop of President Tinubu’s earlier remarks on insecurity in Plateau. In April, he condemned an attack in Bassa Local Government Area that claimed more than 50 lives and razed homes, calling for stronger political will to break cycles of violence.
“Love and unity must rise above religious and ethnic divisions,” he had said, urging leaders to work together for peace across the state.
