A tragic incident occurred in Jigawa State as a mother of four was found dead after reportedly taking her own life.
According to the Jigawa State Police Command, the woman’s body was discovered by passersby in the Yalwawa area of Dutse, who immediately alerted security authorities.
Police spokesperson SP Lawan Shiisu Adam confirmed the development in a statement to newsmen, explaining that a team of officers from the Yalwawa Division swiftly responded to the scene.
“Upon arrival, officers found the lifeless body of the victim hanging. The body was carefully lowered and examined, with no foul play suspected,” he stated.
The remains were transported to Dutse General Hospital, where a medical doctor on duty certified her dead.
Police Findings and Public Advisory
Preliminary investigations revealed that the deceased had been battling mental health challenges before the incident.
The woman leaves behind her husband and four children.
Expressing grief over the incident, Commissioner of Police, CP Dahiru Muhammad, urged the public to be more attentive to family members or neighbours displaying symptoms of emotional or psychological distress.
“We encourage families to seek timely medical and psychological support for loved ones showing signs of mental instability. Early intervention can save lives,” the Commissioner stated.
