Enugu State Governor Defects From PDP to APC, His Members of Cabinet Pledge Full Support

Governor Peter Mbah of Enugu State and members of his cabinet have publicly declared their defection from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC), the ruling party at the federal level.

This political shift comes amid growing speculation and has been confirmed through social media posts and official statements. Among those who joined the APC alongside Governor Mbah are Commissioner for Innovation, Science and Technology Dr. Lawrence Ezeh, Chairman of the Science, Technical and Vocational Schools Management Board Dr. Amaka S. Ngene, and Commissioner for Labour and Employment Dr. Felix Nnamani.

Therefore, a video circulated by the governor’s media aide showed the cabinet members together, proudly affirming their new political alignment.Governor Mbah, who was elected under the PDP banner in 2023, explained that his defection was motivated by the desire to enhance development and better serve the people of Enugu State.

Similarly, he expressed gratitude to the PDP for their support during his campaign but emphasized that changing political platforms was necessary to accomplish his administration’s goals. Political observers note that the APC flag has been hoisted at the Enugu Government House, symbolizing the new affiliation and signaling a significant political realignment in the state ahead of upcoming elections. The defection highlights a shift in political loyalties that could reshape Enugu’s political landscape in the coming months.
