A tense drama unfolded at an Area Court in Ilorin, Kwara State, on Thursday, October 16th, 2025, when Mulikat Yusuf fainted following her husband Ishaq Abdulganiyu’s firm insistence on ending their marriage.
Abdulganiyu told the court he was no longer interested in continuing the marriage, citing irreconcilable differences. Despite Mulikat’s emotional plea to the court to halt the divorce, especially after raising six children and having nowhere else to go, her husband remained resolute.
Therefore, witnesses described how Mulikat appeared lost in thought after hearing her husband’s application for divorce, only to collapse shortly after stepping out of the courtroom.
Court officials and sympathisers quickly revived her by splashing water on her face. The presiding judge, Honorable Toyin Aluko, expressed sympathy and advised both parties to explore reconciliation options.The case was adjourned to December 10th, 2025, for a report on settlement or a hearing to continue.
