The Kogi State Government has commended President Bola Tinubu for appointing Major-General Waidi Shaibu, a native of Kogi State, as the new Chief of Army Staff. In a statement issued from Lokoja by the Commissioner for Information and Communications, Kingsley Femi Fanwo, Governor Usman Ododo described the presidential decision as a clear demonstration of President Tinubu’s commitment to fairness, equity, and meritocracy in national service. Major-General Waidi Shaibu succeeds Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede, who was elevated to the position of Chief of Defence Staff as part of the same military reorganization effort.This appointment comes amid President Tinubu’s broader initiative to fortify the nation’s security architecture by bringing in fresh leadership at the helm of the Nigerian Armed Forces.
