The Ekiti State Government has introduced a mandatory signage fee of ₦5 million for all political parties and candidates intending to display posters, campaign branding, and election jingles ahead of the 2026 governorship election. The directive, issued by the Director General of the Ekiti State Signage and Advertisement Agency (EKSAA), Adebisi Adesua, was conveyed through a letter addressed to the Chairman of the Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC), Ekiti State Chapter, dated November 12th.
The letter, with reference number EKSAA/413/9 and titled “Signage Regulations for Political Parties in the State: Fees and Restrictions,” stipulates that “all governorship aspirants of political parties are expected to pay the sum of five million naira as signage fees to cover the costs associated with the display of posters, branding, jingles etc in designated areas within the state.”EKSAA’s letter emphasizes compliance, warning that “payment must be made prior to any form of display of signages/ branding, posters and jingles; the fee applies to all political parties in the state; failure to pay fees contravenes section 30 sub-section 1-4 of the agency law 2007 and may attract punitive measures.”
Political parties are instructed to make payments through cheque or draft to the Ekiti State Signage and Advertisement Agency’s bank account with Polaris Bank, number 1790177751.
Further, the directive sets out strict restrictions regarding the placement of political posters. Parties are reminded that “pasting of political posters and defacing of public structures is prohibited in certain locations viz: Government establishment buildings, State Secretariat, Public schools and Bridge pier (i.e. Under bridge pillar).”
“As a leading agency responsible for the regulation of outdoor structures and advertisement in the State, Ekiti State Signage and Advertisement Agency would like notify you that letters have been written to all political parties that as the year 2026 election approaches in the state, all governorship aspirants of political parties are expected to pay the sum of five million naira as signage fees to cover the costs associated with the display of posters, branding, Jingles etc in designated areas within the state,” the letter states.“
You are therefore enjoined to kindly assist the agency in ensuring strict compliance of these political parties to the payment of their Signage & Advertisement fee through check/draft to the Ekiti State Signage and Advertisement Agency’s Bank Account with Polaris Bank. Account Number: 1790177751,” it concludes.
The agency reaffirms its commitment to enforcing these rules and ensuring an orderly environment for political communication as Ekiti State prepares for what is expected to be a keenly contested gubernatorial race.
