In a bold letter addressed to the Nigerian Senate, American citizen Mike Arnold has expressed strong opposition to the nomination of Reno Omokri as an ambassador. Arnold, who claims to have closely observed Omokri, described him as a “danger to your country.”
Arnold’s letter outlines several serious allegations against Omokri:
1. He did not attend his own father’s funeral.
2. He reportedly abandoned his autistic son in California.
3. He has faced accusations of covering for his brother, who was alleged to have raped a 15-year-old girl in a church setting.
4. Senator Natasha Akpoti has accused him of sexual harassment during a State House event
5. Arnold claims Omokri has shown inconsistencies in his public statements about Nigerian leaders, accusing Bola Ahmed Tinubu of being a drug baron, only to later praise him once financial interests were at stake.
6. Arnold alleges that Omokri has shifted his stance on significant issues, such as the “Christian genocide” narrative, depending on the political climate.
“This is no diplomat,” Arnold asserts. “This is an effeminate, preening peacock who plucks his eyebrows and prances like a pixie in selfies for cheap social media clicks.” He further describes Omokri as a “shape-shifting mercenary” who prioritizes monetary gain over integrity.
Arnold warns that if appointed, Omokri would ultimately betray Nigeria for personal gain, paralleling what he perceives as Omokri’s past betrayals of family and principles. He concludes his letter by emphasizing the damaging stereotype that such a nomination would reinforce, calling on the Senate to deny Omokri’s appointment.
“As an American who has made Nigeria my second home,” Arnold writes, “the very nomination of Omokri for this important post plays fully into that stereotype and de-markets the nation in a very corrosive way.” He implores the Senate to reconsider, asserting, “Your fatherland deserves better than a paid liar who wouldn’t even bury his own father.”
