Former Minister of Police Affairs, Jelili Adesiyan, has claimed that billionaire businessman Deji Adeleke, father of music mogul David Adeleke, known as Davido, actually holds the real power in Osun State, rather than Governor Ademola Adeleke.
Adesiyan made this assertion during an interview on state affairs with Edmund Obilo, where he described Deji Adeleke as the genuine authority behind the operations of the Osun State Government.
He stated that Deji Adeleke is effectively the “real governor” of the state, insisting that Governor Ademola Adeleke does not wield true power.
“Deji Adeleke is the governor. Who is Ademola Adeleke? Can that one become governor?” Adesiyan said. “Deji is the one in charge.”
The former minister also claimed that Deji Adeleke has historically exerted significant influence over Osun politics, including during the time his elder brother, the late Senator Isiaka Adeleke, was in office.
“I served under his brother when he was in government. I knew the influence Deji wielded over his senior brother,” Adesiyan stated.
He further described Deji Adeleke as a powerful businessman and “a capitalist to the core,” whose influence he asserted runs deep within the political framework of Osun State.
These comments have intensified ongoing political debates concerning power dynamics and governance within the state.
