Afrobeats star David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has firmly denied claims that he is the biological father of a 12-year-old girl, Mitchelle Anuoluwapo, who recently appealed publicly for a DNA test to confirm her paternity.
The girl, who described herself on Instagram as “Davido’s oldest daughter,” said she made the appeal in a bid to establish her identity. In an emotional post, she claimed she had endured years of bullying and psychological distress after telling schoolmates that the popular singer was her father.
“As I grow older, I want to establish my identity,” she wrote, alleging that she had been mocked by peers since the age of six and regularly returned home in tears after school.
Addressing Davido directly, Mitchelle requested a DNA test, stating that it was something she personally desired and believed was the right step to take as she approached adulthood.
In response, Davido publicly rejected the claim on both Instagram and X (formerly Twitter), insisting that he is not the child’s father. He stated that multiple DNA tests had already been conducted, all of which returned negative results.
“I have taken five DNA tests, all negative. I am not your father,” the singer said, adding that he has never met the girl’s mother and described her as an obsessed fan spreading false claims.
Davido further expressed frustration over what he described as repeated public appeals despite what he considers a resolved matter. He claimed that DNA tests were conducted at five different hospitals—three chosen by him and two by the claimant—and all produced the same outcome.
“This is the last time I am speaking on this issue,” he said, warning that the girl’s mother should desist from further claims or face legal consequences.
The controversy has sparked widespread reactions on social media, drawing attention to the emotional and legal complexities surrounding disputed paternity claims involving public figures. While Mitchelle’s post highlights the psychological toll she says the situation has taken on her, Davido maintains that the issue has been conclusively settled through medical evidence.
