Nollywood actress Angela Okorie has been returned to the Suleja Correctional Facility after failing to meet the bail conditions granted to her in an ongoing cybercrime case.
The actress was reportedly granted bail following her arraignment earlier in the week but was unable to fulfill the court’s requirements within the stipulated timeframe. As a result, she has been remanded in custody pending compliance with the bail terms or further directives from the court.
The Federal High Court had set bail at ₦5 million, with a requirement for one surety of equal value. The court also specified that the surety must meet strict verification standards before Okorie could be released. Until these conditions are fully satisfied and approved by the court registry, the actress will remain in custody.
The case stems from a petition filed by fellow Nollywood actress Mercy Johnson Okojie, which led to an investigation by the Nigeria Police Force Cybercrime Centre. Okorie was initially arrested in Lagos before being transferred to Abuja, where she was formally charged.
Although the specific details of the alleged cybercrime have not been fully disclosed, authorities have maintained that due process is being followed throughout the legal proceedings.
