Paul Ibe, an aide to former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, has responded sharply to former Ekiti State governor Ayodele Fayose following his threat to disclose more information about a reported political meeting held in Minna.
In a post on X on Friday, Ibe dismissed Fayose’s claims and accused the former governor of wrongly attributing a controversial statement to him.
He explained that the statement which provoked Fayose’s reaction was authored by another aide to Atiku, Ambassador Phrank Shaibu, and not by him as alleged.
Ibe noted that a careful reading of the statement titled “Peter Ayodele Fayose’s Beer Parlour Tales of Infamy” would have revealed its true author, stressing that Fayose failed to verify the facts before responding.
The Atiku aide also took a swipe at Fayose’s 48 hour ultimatum, insinuating that the former governor may have misunderstood the message when he first read it.
He further mocked the deadline, suggesting that Fayose should respond sooner if he regained clarity before the stated timeframe elapsed.
Fayose had earlier warned that he would release additional details about a meeting involving Atiku and Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde if the former vice president did not publicly distance himself from the disputed statement.
The former governor added that failure to issue a rebuttal within 48 hours would compel him to reveal more information about those behind the meeting and discussions allegedly concerning Federal Capital Territory Minister Nyesom Wike, saying he would await developments before taking further action.
