The Nigeria Police Force has relieved ACP Benjamin Hundeyin of his duties as Force Public Relations Officer, just six months after he assumed the role.
The decision was reportedly approved on Thursday, March 5, 2026, by the newly appointed Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu, though the police have not provided details on the reasons behind the move.
Sources say the removal is part of ongoing changes at the Force Headquarters following Disu’s emergence as the 23rd Inspector-General last week.
A reliable insider confirmed, “The Force Public Relations Officer has been removed this morning,” adding that the transition is official.
Hundeyin was appointed to the Force PRO position in September 2025 by former IGP Kayode Egbetokun, who led the police since 2023 until his recent replacement.
Before his elevation to the national level, Hundeyin served as spokesperson for the Lagos State Police Command, taking over from Muyiwa Adejobi, who was later transferred to Delta State Police Command.
The Force has yet to issue an official statement explaining the circumstances surrounding Hundeyin’s removal.
